SALT LAMP SETUP GUIDE

SETUP OF YOUR HIMALAYAN SALT LAMP

Remove plastic from your salt lamp. Screw the light bulb firmly into the power cable fitting. Gently push in the metal clips and insert the fitting into the base of the salt lamp until the metal clips spring into place. Check power point switch is OFF. Plug power cable into power point. Turn on power and your salt lamp is ready to go!

WHERE TO PLACE YOUR ROCK SALT LAMP

Allergy Sufferers – A salt lamp in the bedroom will help improve air quality and reduce airborne bacteria and irritants that can trigger Asthma and allergies.

Child’s Bedroom – a perfect night light that will help them sleep and make them feel ‘safe and sound’. Salt lamps are completely safe.

Lounge Room – place next to the TV or other electrical devices to clear the air and reduce EMF (electro magnetic field) present in every home.

Our Rock Salt Lamps also offer a pleasing, ambient glow that gives a feeling of peace and calm whilst contributing to your well-being. Place a Rock Salt Lamp anywhere you want the air quality to be improved or you want to create a relaxing, wellness environment and enjoy the beauty of nature.

HOW DO I CLEAN AND USE MY LAMP

For regular cleaning, use a feather duster or dry cloth to remove dust. Occasionally, use a lightly dampened cloth to clean. Please do not sprinkle with water or keep outdoors. In especially humid areas, a light film of water may build up on the outside of the lamp; simply turn the light on for a while and the heat will dry it well. Keep the light on as long as possible, the more, the better. If you choose to place a salt lamp on a wooden surface, please ensure that it has a waterproof base so that you do not damage your furniture.

HOW TO REPLACE THE LIGHT BULB OF SALT LAMP

Each of our lamps is installed with one 15w or 25w bulb except USB lamps. Always unplug the power cord from power source before changing the light bulb to prevent electric shock. Carefully lay the salt lamp on it’s side and pull bulb assembly gently out. Simple squeeze the spring loaded clamp and remove the old bulb from assembly. Fix the new bulb into assembly and gently insert the bulb assembly back into salt lamp. Finally place the salt lamp in it’s natural position.

HOW LONG SALT LAMP LAST

They do not shrink unless you put them in water or regularly wash them – don’t wash them. The material is 250 million years old – it’s not going anywhere unless you dissolve it in water – in which case, you should either drink it or bath in it – both are good for you!

MY LAMP HAS STARTED POOLING WATER OR LEAKING

If your lamp is running, leaking or pooling water this is generally due to being switched off for extended periods, especially in areas of high humidity. To remedy, leave in strong sunlight for 4 to 5 hours and brush off any excess crystals. Wipe gently with an old cloth and turn the lamp back on.

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR HIMALAYAN SALT LAMP

Due to the hygroscopic properties of salt (absorb moisture from the air), Himalayan salt lamps and rock salt candle holders are best not used in damp rooms, outdoors, in humid conditions, near evaporative cooling, or be allowed to get wet. If your lamp gets wet, switch off at the power source, remove the cord and globe and then wipe the rock salt with a dry cloth. When dry, replace the globe and cord and switch on the lamp or light the tea light candle in the candle holder to re-dry the rock salt. Should you suspect water has dripped into the globe connection, replace the cord and globe immediately. Should your Rock Salt Lamp get a bit dusty or dirty, switch off at the power source, remove the cord and globe, then moisten a cloth (wring out completely) and rub the dirt off the lamp. For heavy, ground in dirt, you can use a scourer (this won’t hurt the lamp); allow the lamp to dry either in sunlight (inside) or by replacing the globe and cord and then switching on the lamp. If you live in exceptionally humid or wet weather conditions, it’s strongly recommended you have your Crystal Salt Lamp on continuously, to keep it as dry as possible. For best results, keep on 24/7. Should you wish to turn your salt lamp off for more than a few days (temperate conditions) or a few hours (humid/tropical conditions), remove the cord and globe from the lamp and place the Rock Salt Lamp in a plastic bag (a supermarket bag will do). This will prevent your salt lamp from “weeping” or “sweating”.

PLANNING ON GOING AWAY ON HOLIDAY

If you plan on having your lamp switched off for an extended period, we recommend unplugging the power cord, separating the cord from your salt lamp, and wrapping the salt lamp in a plastic bag to keep it air tight. This will prevent the lamp from pooling water. Our salt lamps are completely natural so each one is pretty unique and care instructions can vary. If you have any questions about your Himalayan salt lamp please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
